Why do Filipinos celebrate

Chinese New Year?

You might be wondering why do Filipinos celebrate Chinese New Year? And what might be the reason behind it? As we all know, Chinese New Year is celebrated every year on the 29th day January, but how do we celebrate it?

During the Chinese New Year, Filipinos with chinese ancestry or chinese living in the e Philippines participate to many activities and traditions, here's one: they put chinese decorations on their homes or even businesses because they believed  these decorations symbolize good luck and prosperity. They also prepare traditional foods like tikoy and many more. They also give ampaos to children and unmarried individuals which they believe that his also symbolize good luck and prosperity. But the real question is, why do we celebrate it?

I think that one of the reason is there are many chinese living in our country. And by that, they have contributed lots in our economy. Also one of the reasons is historical ties, during the colonial period, many chinese settled in our country ad as a result, we exchanged cultures and traditions, including the Chinese New Year. I know that there are more reasons but I think these are the most important ones.

To sum it all, Philippines population don't only consists of Filipinos but also different heritages. The celebration doesn't only show how colorful and delightful we celebrate Chinese New Year but this also shows that we are home to different cultures and traditions not just from our country but also other countries.
